Collaborating to optimise residential aged care: Phase two launch

WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is pleased to announce that phase two of our Optimising Primary Care Coordination in Residential Aged Care Homes project has launched. Funding allows four WA aged care organisations to each employ a full-time registered nurse across two sites to improve palliative care, advance care planning and reduce avoidable hospital visits.

eNRMC medication management systems – revised timeframes


Are you equipped with fully conformant electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) software? Residential aged care homes (RACH) currently using one of these transitional medication management systems, should please be aware of the deadlines below for full conformance.


- Deadline for software developers to implement: 20 September 2025 

- Deadline for RACHs to implement: 1 March 2026 


Please reach out to your software vendor to ensure compliance can be achieved by the national deadline.

The End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC) Linkages Program is calling for expressions of interest from aged care providers who wish to develop palliative care and advance care planning activities.


Participating services may be eligible to receive an administrative grant of up to $20,000 to support engagement in program activities.

Government updates

Release of final draft of the new Aged Care Rules

Set to commence alongside the new Aged Care Act from 1 November, the Australian Government has released the final draft of the new Aged Care Rules 2025, to guide the sector in the delivery of aged care reforms.


The rules set out how the aged care sector provides care, covering issues from residential care to Home Support Packages, worker screening, vaccinations and financial obligations in aged care. Providing further detail and instruction on how the new Aged Care Act will work, the release of the rules ahead of 1 November is to support aged care providers to prepare their systems, processes and workforce.

Audit of Commonwealth Home Support Program

The Australian National Audit Office is undertaking a performance audit on the effectiveness of the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
