While the Australian health care system is one of the best in the world, it can be difficult to access for a number of reasons. Where someone lives, where they come from, what they earn, or the inability to access services that meet their needs, can all impact their health.
Health equity means removing the economic and social barriers to health. WA Primary Health Alliance is aiming, through its discrete role in primary health care, to address barriers.
That’s why our new Strategic Plan 2023-2026 has health equity as its north star. It is guided by the Quintuple Aim for Health Care Improvement, particularly the fifth dimension of health equity, given the Australian Government’s clear direction for PHNs to focus on people who are most at risk of poor health outcomes due to compromised access to health care services.
